Polluted beach sand can harbour even more pathogens than the surf, according to researchers with the EPA, the University of North Carolina and Johns Hopkins University.

So, no more sugar cones, which is ok ’cause you’re not going to the beach anyway. This is the boy in the glass bubble syndrome. You need to be exposed to harmful things, to build up an immunity to them; the boy in the glass bubble, the germ-free environment, stepped out and died within hours.
