For the weirdo book lover in your life

3 04 2013

I love books.

I love real physical books, that you can turn the pages in. That work without batteries.

I love books that are not exactly mainstream.

I loved this list of books sent to me by Book Depository – now lamentably part of Amazon 😦 – Deals and Offers at The Book Depository.

Personal favourites:

How to Sharpen Pencils by David Rees – all 224 pages of it!

Crafting with Cat Hair by Kaori Tsutaya – not so extensive at 96 pages

Flattened Fauna: A Field Guide to Common Animals of Roads, Streets, and Highways by Roger M Knutson at 96 pages also

Inevitably there is actually an annual award given to the book with the oddest title. It’s called the Bookseller/Diagram Prize for the Oddest Title of the Year, and was first awarded in 1978.

2012’s award went to Goblinproofing One’s Chicken Coop by Reginald Bakeley
